A rough draft of Jerry's master's thesis,
1971
Ink on paper
11" x 8½" (27.9cm x 21.6cm)
This section deleted from the final draft gives credit to Raphael for diamonds and triangles standing on a point as the major compositional motif of Jerry's oeuvre. This design element can be seen over and over again throughout Jerry's career no matter the style of painting. Examples: His graduate work, crucifixions and even surrealist paintings of the 70s to biomorphic abstractions in the 80s and 90s and all the way through to his final painting.
